Breathing exercises

Why not check-in with the processes in your body that give you life. A selection of exercises to deepen your breathing and mental stillness.

Breathing is something that we all take for granted.

Here are some breathing exercise for you to try out to bring awareness to your breath, and to appreciate how a simple action makes all the difference.

Exercise 1. – For relaxation

Through the nose

  • Breath in,

  • hold,

  • breath out.

  • Breath in,

  • hold,

  • breath out.

Repeat as necessary.

Exercise 2. For distraction

Through the nose

  • Short breath in.
  • Short breath out.
  • Deep breath in.

  • Deep breath out.

  • Short breath in.
  • Short breath out.
  • Deep breath in.

  • Deep breath out.

Repeat as necessary

Exercise 3. For capacity
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Cough hard
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Cough hard
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Cough hard
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Cough hard
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Deep breath out (nose)
  • Deep breath in (nose)
  • Deep breath out (nose)
